Paper 1—MATERIA MEDICA (PLANT KINGDOM SARCODES AND IMPONDERABILIA)

Answer all questions.
 

  M.D. (HOMOEOPATHY) DEGREE EXAMINATION, JUNE 2006

I. Write the construction of the following Materia Medicas with five characteristic features of each:
1. Materia Medica Pura.
2.The Chronic Diseases—Materia Medica Part.
3.The Guiding symptoms.
4.Encyclopedia of Pure Materia Medica.
5.Cyclopedia of Drug Pathogenesy.(5 x 5 = 25 marks)

I1. Write five characteristic indications of the following, in cardiac failure:
1 Lachesis. 2 Convallaria.
3 Iberis. 4 Strophanthus.
5 Spartiüm scoparium.   (5 x 5 = 25 marks)

I11. Compare and contrast the following with five characteristic symptoms :—
1 Lycopodium and Ocimum Canum in urinary calculi.
2 Cistus canadernsis and Con.mac. in glandular affections.
3 Cyclamen and Pulsatilla in female complaints.
4 Belladonna and Ver.Vir in inflammatory conditions.
5 Colocynth and China in pain. (5 x 5 = 25 marks)

IV. Explain “Guiding symptoms”. Write two guiding symptoms of, each of the following
1 Ptela in hepatic affections.
2 Gymnema in diabetes.
3 Justicia Adhatoda in cough.
4 Sphingurus in alopecia.
5 Bothrops in gangrene.
6 Medicago sativa as a tonic.
7 Cascarilla in constipation.
8 Mygale in nerve affections.
9 Myrestica sebifera as an antiseptic medicine.
10 Solanum tuberosum aegrotans in rectal complaints.
11 Thyroidinum in Thyroid gland affections.
