RISE OF HOMOEOPATHY  

1890 - Harper’s magazine Mark Twain -“ The introduction of homoeopathy forced the old school doctors to stir around and learn something of a rational nature about his business. You may feel grateful that homoeopathy survived the attempts of allopaths to destroy it .” 

Prominent persons - Henry Longfellow , Nathainal Hawthrone , Harriet Stowe, William Byrant, Charles Dickens , W B Yeasts , William Thackery, Benjamin Disraeli. 
America – associated with female and black emancipation . Popular among women as practitioners and patients. 
First women’s medical college - Homoeopathic Boston Female Medical College - 1848.
Four years later – New England Female Medical College was opened . 
First to introduce female counterparts to national organisation. 
Support of press 
A M A “We all know perfectly well that the sympathy of the press
Generally and of the public is with homoeopathy .” 
Success in treatment of epidemics thro’ America and Europe .
Death rates - ½ to 1/8 
Insurance companies offers 10% discount .
1898 - U S Commission of education - 3 of 4 medical colleges with largest libraries were homoeopathic medical colleges .
1930-50 - dark ages for homoeopathy .
Recent surveys shows increase interest in homoeopathy thro’ America and Europe .

25 % of people use homoeopathic medicine . 20,000 practitioners
6 Medical colleges
Pharmacy schools and four veterinary colleges teach homoeopathy 

NETHERLAND
20% use alternative medicine and most popular is homoeopathy .

W H O Report - ‘ Homoeopathic treatment seems well suited for use in rural areas where the infrastructure equipments and drugs
needed for conventional treatment cannot be provided.

2000 homoeopathic doctors
