Paper 1I: PREVENTION OF Diseases AND FIRST AID
Time: Two Hours        Maximum: 100 Marks
Answer Part A and B in separate answer-books.
     

Part A (HYGIENE, PREVENTION OF DISEASES)

1.Answer in One sentence:
a) What is sewage?
b) Name two Mosquito borne diseases.
c) What is the causative agent of AIDS?
d) Name two sexually transmitted diseases.
e) Name the Vector of Malaria.                (5x1=5marks)

11. Answer in Two or Three sentences:
a) Define Health.
b) What are the sources of water?
c) Define Incubation period.
d) Air borne diseases.
e) What is Disinfection.    (5x2=10 marks)

III. Write briefly on:
a) Disinfection of Well.
b) Hardness of water.
c) Levels of prevention.
V d) Mode of transmission of Rabies.
e) Mosquito control Measures.  (5x3=I5marks)

IV Explain the following:
a) Role of personal hygiene in preventing diseases.
b) Clinical features and prevention of cholera.
c) Sources and prevention of air pollution.
d) AIDS control measures.  (4x5=20marks)


Part B (FIRST AID)

1.What are the reasons for Haemorrhage?

11.How will you identify a case of severe bleeding? What are the First aid management done in this condition?     (2+3+5=10)

a) Describe the first aid management of Bums.
b) Describe the First aid management of Convulsion.    (2x5 =1O marks)

111 Write Short Notes on:
a) Oxygen administration.
b) Bandages.
c) Shock.
d) Wound cleaning and dressing.
e) Care of the dying patient.  15 Marks

IV How will you clean and sterilize the following items?
a) Surgical Scissors.
b) Surgical Pad.
c) Surgical Blade.
d) Urinary Catheters.
