The Delhi Branch of the Indian Institute of Homoeopathic Physicians had celebrated the 100th Birth Year- Centenary Celebrations of Padmashri Late Dr.K.G.Saxena ( 1912-2012 ) at Lok Kala Manch Auditorium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi on the Gandhi Jayanthi Day. Sixty years ago on 2nd October Dr.K.G.Saxena began his struggle for the recognition of Homoeopathy and continued till his last breath in 2003 after serving the profession for 6 decades. He fought many battles with the Central and state governments for due recognition and allocation of budget for Homoeopathy system of Medicine. His struggle gave results and the governments started realising the importance of homoeopathy.
To commemorate the event Dr.G.L.N.Sastry,Hyderabad was presented with a LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD for his contribution to homoeopathy since 1950 till date. Padmashri Late Dr.K.G.Saxena Memorial Award was presented to Dr.G.L.N.Sastry in the celebrations. Dr.Harsh Vardhan, the Chief Guest presented this award to Dr.Sastry. Dr.Sastry is popularly called as ” Father of Homoeopathic Preventive programs in India “. His contribution in the homoeopathic preventive medicines for Brain Fever is memorable. The Belladonna, Calcarea Carb and Tuberculinum were the homoeopathic medicines used for prevention of Brain Fever in Andhra Pradesh from 1999 onwards.
This B.C.T. medicines proved very effective in the prevention of Brain Fever and the incidence of cases have drastically reduced. Dr.Sastry stated that the Andhra Pradesh model of Brain Fever prevention through homoeopathy has been taken up by the Govt. of India and it is being implemented in Uttarpradesh and Assam where there are many cases of Brain Fever. Dr.Sastry also stated that the Belladonna drug given for Brain Fever prevention has been scientifically proved by the School of Tropical Medicine and the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy He appealed to various state governments to involve homoeopaths in National health Programs.
The organisers had chosen the Gandhi Jayanthi day to celebrate the Centenary year of Dr.Saxena and invited many top level Central Govt. officials and others who have worked with him during his tenure as Advisor to Govt. of India. Dr.Saxena was the Honourary Physician to almost 6 presidents from Dr.Rajendra prasad till Shri Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy and contributed a lot for the recognition of Homoeopathy in our country. He is affectionately and reverentially called as ” Father of the Institutionally Qualified Homoeopathic Practitioners in India “.
Dr.Harsh Vardhan, an eminent allopathic physician and a former Minister of Health and Family Welfate, Govt. of NCT of Delhi was the Chief Guest. He had a long association with Dr.Saxena. Shri Ramesh Chandra IAS, Former Principal Secretary, Dept.of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Delhi, Dr.V.T.Augustine, Former Advisor, Dept. of AYUSH, Govt. of India, Dr.Alok Kumar, Deputy Advisor, Dept. of AYUSH , Govt. of India and Dr.S.N.Sahu, Deputy Advisor, Dept. of AYUSH, Govt. of India were the Guests of Honour.
Dr.Harsh Vardhan, the Chief Guest recalled the good times he had spent with Dr.Saxena and profusely thanked that his advise and schemes on the popularisation of homoeopathy were effectively implemented in his tenure and his government got good name.
Dr.K.R.K.Prabhakara Murthy, the National President, Dr.C.Nayak, Formerly Director-General of the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, Dr.Eswar Das,Consultant, Govt. of India, Dr.V.K.Chaudhan, Principal, Sur Homoeopathic Medical College, Delhi and Dr.Lalit Varma, Secretary of the Central Council of Homoeopathy were the honourable dignitaries.
Dr.Eswara Das, Consultant to Govt. of India, who played a crucial role in the preparation of policy document on Homoeopathy stated that the a sum of Rs.150 crores has been allocated in the 12th Five year Plan ( 2012-2017) for establishing the All India Institute of Homoeopathy. He has informed that around 6028 crores has been allocated for the AYUSH development in the country and homoeopathy is getting share in this and good support from the Govt. of India
Around 200 doctors from all over the country attended the program. Dr.Lalit Varma, Secretary, Central Council of Homoeopathy, Dr.Eswar Das,Dr.N.Srinivasa Rao, Dr.K.R.K.Prabhakara Murthyy, Dr.M.V.L. Narasimha Rao and Dr.G.Srinivasulu from Andhra Pradesh were invited for the celebrations. Dr.G.Srinivasulu had narrated the contributions of Dr.Sastry to the field of Homoeopathy through a power point presentation.
Eminent doctors from Orissa, Mahrashtra, Punjab,Delhi and other states participated in the celebrations.
