Synonyms:  Hydatid disease, hydatidosis, echinococcus cyst.

Definition:
It is a cyst formed in the liver or, less frequently, elsewhere, that contains larvae of the tapeworm Echinococcus granulosus, chiefly in
ruminants, whose eggs are carried from the intestinal tract to the liver through the blood.

Types:

  • There are two main morphological forms of hydatid cysts found in humans:
  • Unilocular hydatid cyst and
  • Osseous hydatid cyst.
  • A third form in humans is the alveolar hydatid cyst, caused by Echinococcus multilocularis. (Syn: echinococcus cyst).

Life Cycle of parasite:
Dogs are the main hosts of the adult worm. Sheep, cattle, rodents, and deer are the natural hosts for the larvae. Humans, especially children, can be attacked by larvae by swallowing eggs, which are shed in the stool of infected dogs.
The disease is most common in countries where animals are raised with the help of dogs.

Signs and Symptoms:
Patients generally lack symptoms, except for a swollen liver and a dull ache over the right upper quarter of the stomach. X-ray tests are used in diagnosis, and because no medical treatment is available, surgical removal of the cyst is required.
According to allopathy, removal of the cysts is the only treatment. Case History

    Respected Sir,
I am also suffering from multiple hydatid cysts in my lever. Largest is 51x50x57 mm. Will I go for homeopathic treatment? Is it fully curable? I am 38 years old and my weight is 68 K.G., height 5’5″ .
I will be waiting for your feedback.

    Thanking you
    Kausik Das
