family about 3000 species of plants. They are mainly grasses,
shrubs and herbaceous plants. They are rich in essential oils
and most of them contain aromatic compounds. The important
medicinal plants belonging to this natural order are:

COMMON FEATURES
1. Nervous
excitement: Many members of this family produce intense
nervous excitement with great agitation and anxiety.
Restlessness of body and mind along with trembling of
extremities, twitching and jerking of muscles

Lycopus:- Mind
wanders from one thing to other Confusion of mind and insomnia
dependant upon chronic diseases of heart and kidneys. It
increases the mental and physical activity and improves the
power of concentration.

Scutellaria:-
This remedy is indicated when there is nervous fear that
pre-dominates everything. The patient fears some calamity
Confusion of mind on attempting to study. Chorea, paralysis
agitans, irregular, muscular twitching, insomnia and night
terrors of children and palpitations of heart.

Origanum:-
Nervous disorders of women that are dependent upon irritation
of sexual organs. Irritability and restlessness with
irritability of sexual organs. Impossible to remain tranquil.
Rosemarinus, mentha piperata are use full in mental anxiety
and restlessness.
Cataria nepeta: Hysteria, nervous irritability and nervous
headache.
2. Dyspepsia:-
Along with obstinate constipation and dysenteric stool.

Collinsonia:
Catarrhal gastritis. Nausea and vomiting with cramp like pain
in stomach. Sensation of heat and weight in epigastrium
Haemorrhoidal dysentery with tenesmus Stool contains mucus or
mucus mixed with dark blood. Obstinate constipation with
sensation as if rectum is loaded with sticks. Alternate
diarrhoea and constipation.

Lamium: Burning
sensation in oesophagus or middle of chest immediately after
eating or drinking. Excessive distension of abdomen. stool
hard with emission of blood.

Lycopus:
Indigestion with pain and distress in gastric region.
Gastritis. Diarrhoea and dysentery. Forcible diarrhoea
preceeded by severe colic. Flatulence and rumbling

Leonurus
Cardiaca: Nausea and violent retching Increased thirst yet
drinking causes epigastric pain. Frequent stool dark brown or
bloody contain large quantity of blood but no mucus

Mentha Piperita:
Hysteria attended with nausea and vomiting. Infantile colic
and flatulent colic. Gastrodynia. Deranged digestion.

Mentha pulegium:
Dyspeptic symptoms with increased salivation.

Cataria nepeta:
Abdominal complaints of children with abdominal pain, colic
with constant flexion of thighs twisting of body and crying.
3. Dragging
down sensation felt especially towards inguinal region or
genitals:
-
Collinsonia: A
heavy dragging ache in pubis with prolapsed uterus associated
with constipation and hemorrhoids Pain on sitting down. Dark
redness of genitals.

Hedeoma:
Excessive bearing down pain with pressure outward towards
vulva from whole lower abdomen accompanied by backache
especially in sacral spine and an excoriating leucorrhoea.

Lamium: A
dragging sensation in left side of abdomen down in to pubic
region as if a hernia would protrude there.

Lycopus: Bearing
down as from hernia. Aching in inguinal canal when walking.
4. Haemorrhoids:
Congestion of veins and venous radicles

Collinsonia:
Congestion of portal veins. Bleeding or blind piles Bleeding
profuse or scanty. Obstinate constipation or diarrhoea.
Alternate diarrhoea and constipation. Cardiac complaints and
haemorrhoidal complaints alternate.

Lamium: Hard
stool with emission of blood and great lassitude.
5. Complaints
resulting from checked hacmorrhage especially haemorrhoidal
bleeding.

Collinsonia:
Dull frontal headache with constipation when haemorrhage is
checked. Also cardiac complaints especially palpitation and
pain in chest Cardiac complaints are relieved when piles
return.

Lycopus: Violent
headache with throbbing and nausea after suppressed
haemorrhoids.
6. Wormifuge
Some of then are powerful worm expellants
7. Action on
cardiovascular system
-
Collinsonia:
Cardiac complaints in patients suffering from haemorrhoids.
Palpitation,. chest pain and dropsy. When head complaints are
ameliorated, piles return.

Lycopus:
Exopthalmic goitre with cardiac complaints. Aneurism,
pericarditis, hypertrophy. Constrictive sensation in cardiac
region Pulse quick and irregular. Darting pain in the region
of heart with intermittent heart beat. Audible action of
heart. Can only walk few step having to stop and get breath
Oedema of left arm, leg and foot.

Scutellaria: Tobacco heart. Sticking in heart region.
Throbbing about heart Pulse variable in force. Intermits
8. Action of excretory system:

Collinsonia:
Catarrhal cystitis of chronic nature

Lycopus: Brights
disease, DM. Diabetes with great thirst and emaciation.
Fearful thirst. Drinks large quantity of water Relief only by
drinking very cold water Urine scanty, and frequent contains
mucus, epithelial cells and oxalate of lime Tenderness of
bladder.

Ocimum canum:
Uric acid diathesis Kidney disease. Albuminuria Renal calculi.
Urine has the odor of musk. Renal colic espccially right sided
with violent vomiting and crampy pain in kidney. Burning
during micturition. Urine is turbid with white and albuminous
deposits. Brick dust sediment. Glandular swelling mammary or
inguinal gland with renal complaints.

Hedeoma: Pain
along left ureter. Colic. Urine is dark colored and is
attended with tenemus. Red sand in unine. Frequent urging.

Teucrium:
Excrescences in urethra with smarting pain in upper part of
urethra.
9. Action on
female genitalia:
-
Collinsonia:
Inflamed condition of genitals with swelling. Amenorrhoca,
dysmenorrhoea or prolapse of uterus when associated with or
secondary to rectal congestion and constipation. Heamorrhoidal
complaints occur during later months of pregancy.

Hedeoma: Bearing
down sensation as if everything would escape from vulva.
ovaries congested and painful. Least movement aggravates
Dsymenorrhoea-labour like pain with regular periodicity
Leucorrhoea with itching and biting

Rosmarinus:
Abortion or miscarriage. Violent pain and uterine haemorrhage.

Lamium: Menses
too early and too scanty. Profuse leucorrhoea with biting
sensation.

Lycopus: Menses
irregular. Menorrhagia and metorrhagia. Vagina hot with
puffiness of vulva.
-
Ocimum: Prolapse
of vagina. Swelling of whole vulva with lancinating pain in
labia.

Teucrium: Polyp
of vagina.
