What is Breast cancer?
Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that starts in the cells of the breast. A malignant tumor is a group of cancer cells that can grow into (invade) surrounding tissues or spread (metastasize) to distant areas of the body. The disease occurs almost entirely in women, but men can get it, too.

Are there different types of Breast cancer?
Breast cancer are classified on the basis of their origin. Most breast cancers begin in the cells that line the ducts (ductal cancers). Some begin in the cells that line the lobules (lobular cancers), while a small number start in other tissues.

What are the causes of Breast cancer? Is it infectious?
There are no definite causes of breast cancer ,however lack of childbearing ,breast feeding women are seen more prone to it. Higher hormone levels, smoking increases the risk of breast cancer in women. The genes associated with hereditary breast-ovarian cancer syndromes usually increase the risk slightly or moderately; the exception is women and men who are carriers of BRCA mutations. These people have a very high lifetime risk for breast and ovarian cancer, depending on the portion of the proteins where the mutation occurs.

Instead of a 12 percent lifetime risk of breast cancer, women with one of these genes have a risk of approximately 60 percent.

In more recent years, research has indicated the impact of diet and other behaviors on breast cancer. These additional risk factors include a high-fat diet, alcohol intake, obesity, and environmental factors such as tobacco use, radiation, endocrine disruptors and shiftwork.

No ,they are not infectious, but have an inheritant history.
