The process is the mechanical method of calculating the value of the medicines under consideration for repertorisation.
#. Universal selection process
#. Preferential selection process

1. UNIVERSAL SELECTION
In this process, all the medicines indicated against the rubrics are considered for repertorisation .No consideration in favor or against medicines of any grade.
ADVANTAGE : No medicines however insignificant is left out of repertorisation.
DISADVANTAGE : Time consuming , Over emphasis on Polychrest as they are routinely present everywhere.

2. PREFERENTIALL SELECTION
The medicines are selected by discrimination with a bias either in favor of or against one or more grades of the medicines.
When a rubric as a larger number of medicines,we select only higher grades of medicines.
This is practiced for time saving, without logical support
Mainly practiced in plain paper method or elimination method. While using with a scientific temper or by applying logic, this method is highly helpful. The medicine can be selected by matching the intensity of symptom expressed in the patient with the grade of medicine in the repertory.
Thus if a symptom is very intensely found in a patient we have to consider only the first grade medicines.

ADVANTAGE
Time consumption and labor is very less
Makes the repertorisation process more scientific
his method keep the physician alert on considering the symptoms, on perceiving the intensity of symptom expression.

DIS ADVANTAGE
If physician makes error in interpreting the intensity of symptom this method fails
If any error in representing the intensity in a repertory, this process is useless, so repertorisation rendered faulty.
